Team Singapore paddlers return home from Hong Kong with 3 Bronze Medals from the Cadet Girls' Team, Cadet Girls' Singles and Junior Boys' Doubles events.

This result may not be the best our junior team has achieved, but this is definitely the best considering the strong field from many Asia powerhouses like China, Hong Kong and Japan.

2012 Hong Kong Premium Junior & Cadet Open - Real Test Awaits Chew & Xin in Quarter Finals

Clarence advancing to the Quarter Finals in the Junior Boys' Singles

Chew Zheyu Clarence and Xin Zhaoxu duly booked their places in the Quarter Finals of the Junior Boys' Singles event. Neither of them faced difficult times in the first two rounds. Their real test will come in the Quarter Finals.

Clarence will face China's Zhang Jiete while Xin Zhaoxu will take on fifth seed and China's Yu Ziyang. Zhang is playing his second international competition after this year's Asian Junior Championships while Yu is the Junior Boys' Team, Singles and Doubles Title holder of the 2011 Chengdu Junior & Cadet Open.

Clarence, in partnership with Xin, has also reached the Semi Finals of the Junior Boy's Doubles event. They will take on Top Seeds China's Liang Jingkun and Yu Ziyang tomorrow.

The only female paddler left in the competition, Ng Xue Qi has managed to reach the Semi Finals of the Cadet Girls' Singles event. She will fight host nation's Soo Wai Yam Minnie for a place in the finals. Soo defeated chopper Tang Jiawen Cheryl earlier in the Quarter Finals.

2012 ITTF New Zealand Junior & Cadet Open - Triple Gold for Isabelle

Isabelle Li collected her 8th Junior Title

Singapore's Li Siyun Isabelle bagged all 3 Gold Medals in the 3 events she participated in the 2012 ITTF New Zealand Junior & Cadet Open.

Li, together with Hong Kong's Lam Yee Lok, took home the Junior Girls' Team Title on the 2nd day of proceedings. They defeated teams from Australia and New Zealand to crown Champions. On the last day, Li paired with Lam in the Junior Girls' Doubles Event to beat Australia's Forster Eliza and Malaysia's Samantha Ong 3-0. Li continued her good form in the Junior Girls' Singles Finals beating her partner Lam 4-0, thus pocketing 3 golds. Notably, Li did not drop a single set in all 3 events.

Not to be outshine by his female counterparts, Chew Zheyu Clarence took home the Junior Boys' Singles title defeating third seeds Thailand’s Max Poungsri. Chew was stretched to the full 7 games, winning 11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-5.

The Junior paddlers will be heading to Thailand next month to compete in the Thailand Junior and Cadet Open.

2012 ITTF Swedish Premium Junior & Cadet Open - Zhou Yihan Secures Second Consecutive Junior Singles Title

Zhou Yihan recorded her second consecutive success, winning the Junior Girls’ Singles event at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open in Örebro. One week earlier, she won in Czech Republic.

Zhou started her journey to the final by beating Prachi Jha of the United States 11-8, 11-5, 12-10, 11-1, before overcoming Thailand’s Tamolwan Khetkuen 11-1, 11-2, 11-9, 13-11 to book her place in the quarter-finals. Her good form continued as she overcame Katsiaryna Baravok of Belarus 11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-3. In the Semi Finals, Zhou defeated Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Yee, the no.5 seed, in a similar six games duel 11-8, 11-9, 11-4, 5-11, 3-11, 11-9.

In the finals, Zhou Yihan faced doubles partner Lin Ye. Having trained together for more than a year in Singapore, they knew each other's game very well. It was Zhou who prevailed, winning 11-5, 11-7, 10-12, 11-7, 11-4.

Silver in the Girls' Junior Singles Event, it was Gold in the Junior Girls' Doubles Event for Lin Ye. The top seeds experienced a tough examination from the second seeds, Hong Kong's Doo Hoi Kem and Li Ching Wan. They needed the full five games to succeed 11-9, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 11-9.

Ang Wan Qi also added a Bronze to Singapore's total medal tally in Sweden. She faltered against Thailand's Khetkuen Tamolwan in the Semi Finals.

2012 ITTF Swedish Premium Junior & Cadet Open - Team Singapore List

The swedish Junior Open, part of the Safir International Championships will be staged from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th February 2012. The event will feature singles and doubles in the junior category and singles in the cadet and hopes categories.

2012 ITTF Czech Premium Junior & Cadet Open - 3 Golds for Team Singapore!

Making his debut on the ITTF Junior Circuit, Xin Zhaoxu captured the Junior Boys' Singles Crown defeating top seed, Hong Kong's Chu Chung Hei. Xin needed only five games 11-6, 11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 11-4 to secure victory.

Earlier in the day, Xin's compatriot Zhou Yihan won the Junior Girls' Singles title and had partnered colleague Lin Ye to clinch the Girls' Doubles Gold. In the Junior Singles finals, Zhou defeated Hong Kong's Li Ching Wan, the no.7 seed, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4.

Junior Girls' Doubles Top Seeds Zhou Yihan and Lin Ye also beat Hong Kong's Li Ching Wan and Doo Hoi Kem in a full distance five games contest; they won 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-13, 11-8.
