2012 Asian Table Tennis Championships - Third Silver for Jiawei

National paddlers Li Jiawei and Sun Beibei were not a match against top seeds Ding Ning and Guo Yan in the final of the Asian Table Tennis Championships women's doubles.

Ding Ning and Guo Yan turned on the heat from the get-go, winning the first and second game 7-11, 4-11. Li and Sun fought back to win the third 11-7. The next two game were split between Singapore and China 9-11, 11-7. But things were a little too late. Li and Sun conceded the sixth game 3-11 to finish runners-up.

Despite the loss, the silver is the best result that Singapore has produced in this event.

Li and Sun had earlier taken down Japanese pair Ai Fukuhara and Sayaka Hirano 3-1 in the quarter-finals, before defeating South Koreans Lee Eun Hee and Park Young Sook 4-3 in the semi-finals.

This is the Republic's best medal haul at the Asian Championships to date, winning a total of one Gold, three Silvers!

Team Singapore will be heading to Taiwan for centralized training tomorrow.
